Hemavan Tärnaby Airport is expanding and we expect to complete all parts in 2026!
The interior of the terminal is complete. The remaining work is to complete the exterior and ground works, which will take place in the spring/summer of 2026.
We have expanded 8 meters from the existing front towards the parking lot and have gained 200m² more terminal space. The green marking shows the expansion.
Why are we extending
The X-ray machine for hand luggage needs to be replaced with a model that does not fit in the current premises. It has also been very crowded in the area around the security check/check-in. Unfortunately, it has not been uncommon for passengers to have to stand outside while waiting to get to check-in.
How will it be later?
The expansion will accommodate a new security check that simplifies the procedure for both passengers and staff. It will feel airier, more efficient and safer. The combined entrance and check-in will also feel significantly more spacious and pleasant. The expansion means that several of our current office spaces will disappear. The new part will therefore also accommodate some office space. Below (marked in green) you can see the areas that will be added in the expansion!
